BIO
I aim to capture the mood of the moment - the humour, drama or silence and I achieve this by simplifying what I see into blocks of tones and shapes and by pushing the boundaries of colour and perspective. By using vigorous mark making and brush strokes I can create the energy and movement to achieve a more dynamic painting.
Most of my paintings have a story behind them and many of the outback scenes are from field trips into the bush and of station life. I am regularly commissioned to do animal portraits and love to hear about their stories. I feel it is an honour to be trusted to paint a special pet and that It is a beautiful way to have a permanent memory and reminder of them. They are a joy to do.
Some say that my paintings are edgy, vibrant, emotive and expressionistic.I am a people watcher, animal stalker and lover of the great Australian outback.
I work with soft pastels, oils and acrylic and I paint so that I can share the beauty of what I see through my eyes and feel that if my painting creates an emotion in the viewer or makes some one smile then I have achieved that goal.
I have won a number of prizes and awards, have been a feature artist on Blue Thumb and Ozartfinder Finder and I will be featured on the TV series Put Some Colour In Your Life in 2020. I hold solo exhibitions yearly and my paintings grace the walls of homes in Australia, the U.K., Germany and Singapore.
